Mushrooms have been known to humans for centuries and are among the few fungi that have common and scientific names. For example the death cup (Amanita phalloides), shaggy mane (Coprinus comatus), jack-o'lantern (Omphalotus olearius) and the honey mushroom (Armillariella mellea).
